These brushes are referred to by man as the pinnacle of shaving brushes as they are made solely by hand using techniques and ideas that have not changed at all in over a decade. The most premium raw material that can be used in a shaving brush is badger hair. Badger hair has unique properties because it is soft to touch and on the skin and is tough but retains water at the same time.

Badger hair is categorized into three main types or quality, pure, best and super.

Best

Super

Long length hair, which has a creamy white tip and is very sought after. Brushes using this type of hair are very expensive to buy.

Most badger hair used in today’s brushes is sourced from badgers in China, where the badger is not a protected species.
